Avocados and Pineapples:

Some people are blessed with green thumbs. They can grow anything, heal anything that grows and...frankly...even make me grow green - with envy!

I have never been good at growing things. I can start things - organic and inorganic! In fact, I used to joke that I could start any plant from a seed. My ability to keep it alive after germination...not so good. So, after years of failure on the growing front one might wonder why I would expose myself to such doom and disappointment yet one more time?

  • I'm a glutton for punishment?

  • I just can't resist the opportunity to be humbled by my inabilities?

  • I'm just weird?

Hmmm...Probably a bit of all of the above and, if my husband is to be believed, most definitely the last item!

Alas, the truth is always more complicated, isn't it?

I keep trying to grow things because I know it can be done. In order for me to purchase these items someone somewhere must be successful at growing them. And if someone somewhere is successful at it, I can be too, right? You see, despite all of my seemingly failed attempts I still hold fast to the belief that if it can be done, I can learn to do it. And why not? That I haven't learned yet is simply a matter of interest, the level of priority I give to that interest and the amount of time and resources I put behind that priority.

Note: This is true of everything in Life! Determine what is important to you and pursue it. Look at your failures as lessons that are sharpening your abilities to succeed.
